Dawn Van Zandt, beloved daughter of Lee and Iona Macdonald, was born on July 27, 1937 in New York. She peacefully departed this world on July 23, 2023 with her son Chip Van Zandt by her side. Dawn’s unwavering faith in God gave her strength and peace as she embarked on her journey.
For 47 years, Dawn called Southern California her home, where she touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness and compassion. As a devoted mother, she leaves behind cherished memories in the memories in the hearts of her surviving children: Sherry Van Zandt, Glenn (Chip) Van Zandt and Dirk Van Zandt. She was preceded by her beloved daughter Kim Van Zandt, who passed away in 2007.
Dawn’s legacy extends to nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished dearly. Family meant everything to her, and she created a nurturing and loving environment for everyone she held dear. Throughout her life, Dawn dedicated 23 years of service to the Pomona Unified School District before retiring. She was known for her loving and giving nature, always treating others with respect and compassion. Her radiant smile had the power to brighten anyone’s day.
Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit will forever live on in the memories sheared by her family and friends.
May her soul find eternal peace and may we find comfort in knowing that her love will forever be with us.
We love and miss you so much.
