Gerrit Jan MacLeane was born on December 28, 1928, in Sully, Iowa. He was the third of eight children. At the age of four, his mother moved the family of the Netherlands, after the tragic death of his father.
Gerrit attended trade school at the age of 14, where he learned and crafted his skills in woodworking. He then served in the Dutch army. Once home, he returned to his craft of woodworking, which led to meeting his future wife, Willy. After four years of dating, they married on August 28, 1952. They had three children. In 1960, Gerrit moved and immigrated his family to Southern California. Once here, it did not take long until he started his own business in his woodworking specialty, where he demonstrated his artistry with wood.
Gerrit was a valuable member of the Christian Reformed Church where he volunteered his time and skills. Even after he retired from his business, he continued his love of woodworking by spending many hours in his garage doing the things he always wanted to do. He also loved going out in his RV to his favorite fishing spots. On April 28, 2021 the Good Lord called him home to be with Him.
Gerrit is survived by his wife, Willy, of 68 years, his two sons, Jan and William, and his daughter, Barbara. He also had three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Gerrit showed his love for the Lord by example. He lived a life of devotion, kindness, generosity, commitment, and patience. He will be truly missed. We love you.
