Hortencia Ruiz Hernandez

Hortencia Ruiz Hernandez went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on April 17th 2026, at the age of 84 years old. She was the daughter of Luis and Guadalupe Ruiz. She was born on December 31, 1941 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Hortencia is preceded in death by her husband Richard E Hernandez who she was married to for 43 years. She is survived by her five children: Ermelinda Chavez, Virginia Hernandez, Richard J Hernandez, Dolores Dondelinger and George D Hernandez, as well as her 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren whom she loved very much.

Hortencia was also the 3rd to the oldest of 13 children. Of her siblings, she is survived by her sisters Virginia Guerra, Mary Barton, and Lupe Martinez and by her brothers Ruben Ruiz, Jesse Ruiz, and Fernando Ruiz.

Hortencia loved her family and spent many times having large family gatherings with music, food and dancing. She was a great dancer, you would often see her owning the dance floor doing The Swing with her late husband, Richard. She also loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.

In 1979, she gave her life and heart to the Lord and it became her new passion to serve Jesus in anyway she could. Nothing gave her more joy than to tell others about the wonderful love of Jesus. She was the first one who planted the seeds of Faith to her family and friends. She had a heart of compassion, the kind of person that would give her last dollar to a person in need.

Naturally, her love for music and dance transitioned her to become a worshipper for God. That is how she lived the rest of her life. Singing and dancing for her Lord.
