Born in Los Angeles on February 22, 1964, Jim arrived with a personality as vibrant as the city itself. He lived life fully and joyfully until his passing on April 12, 2026, at the age of 62.
Jim met the love of his life, Kathleen, in March of 1979 at the Fiesta Roller Skating Rink — a place that would mark the beginning of a lifelong partnership. Eight years later they said “I do,” and together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support. Becoming parents in 1988, they raised three children and showed the world, through countless everyday moments, that family was the center of everything. Those who knew Jim can share endless stories of his natural care, his steady presence, and the way he championed every dream his children and grandchildren chased.
A child of roller rinks, theatre stages, and bicycles, Jim carried those passions throughout his life. He could often be found singing along to Tom Petty or any good rock-and-roll track from the eighties, cheering at his USC football boys on TV, spending cherished time with family at the river, or proudly watching his kids and grandkids race bikes around the world. He loved the simple comforts — especially popcorn and donuts — and he had a gift for turning ordinary conversations into memorable ones, often punctuated by a dad joke or familiar lines like “donuts are their own food group” and “sleep is overrated.” A talented singer, a graceful roller skater, and an even greater family man, Jim brought energy, humor, and heart into everything he loved.
Jim also shared his compassion with the wider community through his work with Paws to Share, and he was always the first to volunteer — whether at bike races, around the house, or anywhere someone needed a hand. His generosity was steady, instinctive, and deeply felt by all who knew him.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandmother Connie, Aunt Dolores, Aunt Jane and Uncle Bill Smith, his mother in law Clarice Riley, and his father in law Michael Riley.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Bosco; his children and their spouses Andrew and Samantha Bosco, Angela and Kyle Merki, and Alex and Cassandra Bosco; and his grandchildren Ryder, Rowan, Reid, Parker, Todd, and Cole, who will carry forward his spirit, his humor, and the love he poured into every one of them.
