May 12, 1932 - November 20, 2020
Jean Jones, 88, of Ontario, California died November 20, 2020 after a lengthy struggle with sarcoidosis in the lungs. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 12, 1932. The daughter of Ford and Grace Kuns, Jean was raised in Lusk, Wyoming with her brother Stan, and graduated from Lusk High School in 1950. Earning a degree in elementary education from the University of Wyoming, she graduated in 1955. Jean taught first grade for two years in Powell, Wyoming where she met Harley Lee Jones, her beloved husband of 63 years.
Jean and Harley married in 1957 and began their life together in Southern California, settling in Ontario, where they raised their three children. Jean was an Ontario resident for over 60 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Upland and a former member of Bethel Congregational Church (UCC) for over 55 years. A P.E.O. for 70 years, she was a charter member and the first president of Chapter QU, Ontario. Jean truly treasured being a P.E.O.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Jean had a genuine interest in others. She was a “people person”. She brought joy to her loved ones and had a gift of knowing just what to say in a card or note to family and friends. Those on the receiving end of her expressions of love and remembrance were many. Her love, laughter, gestures of kindness, and generous heart will be deeply missed.
Jean is survived by her husband Harley Lee, daughter Michelle (Monty) Blackmon of Ontario, CA; daughter Kimberlee (Michael) Larsen of Casper, WY; and son Christopher (Shari) Jones of Clark Fork, ID; brother Stanley (Patricia) Kuns of Montrose, CO; and sister-in-law Patricia Jones of Powell, WY.
