Joseph Melton DeGonia Sr.

Joe was born June 17, 1934, in Morse Mill, MO to parents Thomas and Stella (Bahr) DeGonia. He graduated from Hillsboro High School class of 1952. He left Missouri to travel the world by enlisting in the US Air Force, serving 20 years of active duty and retiring as a Master Sergeant at Norton AFB, CA. Being an avid lover of golf, he also spent many years working for and playing at the General Old Golf Course.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Jackie DeGonia; sisters Elsie Mae DeGonia, and Anna Kemper; brother-in-law Bill Hulett; daughter Mary DeGonia; and daughter-in-law Peggy DeGonia.

He is survived by sister Delores Hulett of St. Louis, MO, and brother John (Arlene) DeGonia of Festus, MO; sons Joseph DeGonia Jr. of Riverside, Michael (Karla) DeGonia of Yucaipa, Christopher (Yuliya) DeGonia of Redlands, and Eric (Sheila) DeGonia of Duluth, MN; stepchildren Mike (Kerry) Hamilton of Murrieta, Chuck (Marjie) Hamilton of Riverside, Rayelle Bue of Riverside, and Jack (Janelle) Hamilton of Wildomar; 2 grandsons, 21 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, July 31st at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary; 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504. Funeral services will be at 11am on Monday, August 1st at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary. Burial will be at 1pm in Riverside National Cemetery; 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518. Arrangements are under the direction of Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary.
