Lorraine’s life was marked by steady patience and a generous spirit that seemed always to make room for others. In the ways she loved, cared, and quietly looked after everyone around her, she created a sense of comfort and belonging that will be deeply missed.
Lorraine and Leroy Ortiz were married from June 29, 1968, to August 24, 1985. Together they shared 16 years of marriage and welcomed four children: Yvonne, Veronica, Steven, and Vanessa. After Leroy’s passing, Lorraine found a second chance at love when she met Henry. She met her husband, Henry, in the club and was asked to dance at the Montebello Inn—an evening that became the start of a life shared together.
A talented baker, Lorraine was known for making cakes, strawberry shortcakes, and her famous chilli beans—offerings that reflected her warmth and her instinct to take care of those she loved. She also enjoyed long drives to the beach, trips to casinos, and shopping, and she especially loved visiting Newport Beach.
Music and simple pleasures brought Lorraine joy. She enjoyed Oldies (Lil Joe), Country (Patsy Cline), and Mexican music (Ramon Ayala). She loved the brightness of orange, purple, bright orange, and pastel colors, and she delighted in favorite snacks like candy apples and popcorn.
Above all, Lorraine valued her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely and the care she offered so faithfully.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Henry Perez; four children, Yvonne, Veronica, Steven, and Vanessa; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
