Sharyn Lee Hogue entered into rest on December 8, 2025, at the age of 79. Born June 15, 1946, Sharyn will be remembered as a caring, generous, witty, loving, and friendly woman who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Sharyn taught English at Alta Loma High School, bringing her thoughtful spirit to the classroom and encouraging others through her love of language and learning. A talented writer and voracious reader, she carried a deep appreciation for words throughout her life.
Sharyn met her husband, Kenneth Hogue, at Cal State Los Angeles, beginning a partnership that remained central to her story and her heart. Above all, she most valued family, nature, and travel—treasuring time spent with those she loved and seeking out places that brought beauty and calm.
Her personal joys were many: she liked jazz and The Beatles, and her hobbies included reading, writing, being in nature, and travel. She especially loved visiting the beach, spending time in the garden, and being anywhere with flowers. She also found meaning and connection through Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens in Claremont.
In her passing, Sharyn is rejoined with her husband, Kenneth Hogue; her mother, Irene Powers; her father, Robert Holloway; and her brothers-in-law, Martin Hogue and John Hogue.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin Hogue and Andrew Hogue; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hogue; her granddaughter, Kaylee Hogue; and her sister, Christina Thomas.
