Vicente Armando Vela, known to many simply as “Mando,” was born in 1948 to Vicente and MaryAnn of Corpus Christi, Texas. Mando passed away on February 24, 2026, surrounded by his family - leaving a void that can never be filled.
Those who had the privilege of knowing him will carry Mando’s sense of humor, selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit forward. He is and will always be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Patty, his daughter Evelyn, his grandchildren, Anthony, Gabriel, Andrea, Devin, Nathan, and his great-grandchildren Henry, Rosannana, Lucas, Travis, and Autumn, who were the lights of his life. To them, he was their “Pop.”
He was a beloved brother to Eddie, Roy (deceased), and to his sisters Minnie, Alma, and Rebecca (deceased).
Outside of his professional life, Mando found joy in many pastimes. He had a lifelong love for golf, football, and fishing. He could often be found watching the Dallas Cowboys and PGA golf that brought him both great enjoyment and excitement. Armando found relaxation in gardening, floral design and cake decorating. Mando had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a knack for making everyone laugh. He was known for his jokes, big personality, his Catholic faith, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Please join us as we gather with love, remembrance, and gratitude to celebrate a life beautifully lived. Your presence and shared memories will bring comfort and light during this time of farewell.
