Brookelyn Lace (Shafer) Clark, 28, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Brookelyn was born January 5, 1996, to Mark and Vonnie Clark of Mansfield. She was a 2014 graduate of Crestview High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center. She continued her education at Madison Adult Education. Brookelyn was a kindhearted and compassionate soul who worked many years as a caregiver.
Brookelyn had a fierce determination not to allow her illness to sideline her adventurous spirit and competitive nature. Her love for travel sparked many spontaneous road trips to the beach and visiting amusement and water parks, which was a family favorite for vacations during her childhood. She cherished time with her family and friends and was always ready for the frequent shopping excursion with her mom and lunches out with her grandma or challenging her brother to a game of pool. Brookelyn was a terrific cook and enjoyed hosting dinners to share a meal she created. She had a soft spot for animals and always had her best companions, her dogs, Jersey and Poppy, in tow. Brookelyn had many hobbies, including martial arts, but fishing with her dad was an all-time favorite. A lifelong night owl, she spent many early morning hours chatting on the phone or playing her favorite video games with friends.
Brookelyn will be forever missed by those who survive her; her parents, Mark and Vonnie Clark; her husband, Matt Shafer, whom she married May 1, 2024; stepchildren, Kelly and Piper; a brother, Mason (Daisi) Clark; a niece, Mallorie Clark; nephews, Myles Clark and Bradley Kelbley; paternal grandparents, John and Joann Clark; aunts and uncles, John (Jeni) Clark, Gerard Dominick, Sue (John) McQuillen, Michael Longood, Greg Longood, Valerie Donaldson, Cindy Longood, Vince (Christina) Longood, Jill (Gordon) Davis; numerous “first friends”-her cousins; and a host of close friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bill and Dolly Longood.
Friends and family may gather for Visitation Friday, November 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM at 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Brookelynn will be laid to rest at Franklin Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and to Hospice of Western Reserve. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nationwide Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Western Reserve. Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario is honored to serve the Clark Family.
