Born John Dana McGinty on July 27, 1948, in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ernest “Ernie” and Leah “Jean” (Turner) McGinty. He was a graduate of Lexington High School where he played the tuba in the band. John proudly served his county with the US Air Force. He retired from RICI where he was a corrections officer for many years.
John married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Beth” Nemeth and they shared a beautiful love story. He dearly loved her and now they are reunited. He was a hard-working father who raised his children well. John was a social member of the local Elms, Eagles and American Legion. He greatly enjoyed woodworking, was an amazing designer and created many projects from scratch. John was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Stephen (Penny) McGinty and Eddie (Sandy) McGinty; seven grandchildren, Zoey and Daisie McGinty, Logan, Trenton and Gavin Annett, and Blake and Daylan McGinty; six great-grandchildren, Elena, Brantley, Levi, Axton and Harlynn Annett and Adalyda McGinty; a sister, Carol (Chuck) Au; a sister-in-law, Dreama Risner-Mabry; and many cherished family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth McGinty and his parents.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Bruce Philippi officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
