She was born on March 9, 1936, in Grayson, Kentucky, to the late Floyd E. and Prudie E. (Seagraves) Baker. Coming from a family of twelve siblings, Letha was a natural caregiver and knew the value of developing strong relationships. She married Harvey A. Griffith, and they shared a wonderful life together, now reunited in Heaven. Letha knew how to run an efficient household and keep her family in line—she had rules made in love and they were expected to be followed for the benefit of everyone. She owned and operated her own daycare, then went on to work as a home health caregiver for many years. Letha enjoyed sewing and completing coloring projects, and was an avid reader, especially of her Bible. She loved people, had an enthusiastic sense of humor, and knew how to put others at ease. Her willingness to take time to listen and genuinely care about others is a legacy she leaves that will be treasured.
Letha is survived by three children, Dyan Smith, Lynn (Aaron) Cooper, and David Griffith; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Craighead; brother, Fred Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey A. Griffith; son, Joseph F. Griffith; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; and nine brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Robert J. Kurtz officiating. She will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Memorial Park beside her husband.
