Mildred "Midge" Ruby Parnell

Born December 19, 1930, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, she was one of nine children of the late Irene (Lewis) and Othiel Burriss. For a time, she worked at a local store, Ruth’s Mini Mart and retired from MedCentral Mansfield Hospital where she worked in the housekeeping department. Mildred enjoyed gardening and relaxed with a good book whenever she could. She was a natural caregiver and especially enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family.

Mildred is survived by three children, Thomas (Peggy) Parnell, Shirley (Rick) Gimbel and Michael Parnell; a brother, Glen Burriss; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many beloved family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Orville “Pete” Parnell; son, Joseph Parnell; and seven siblings, Willard Burriss, Charles Burriss, Nelson Burriss, Gene Burriss, Larry Burriss, Janet Meadows and Phyllis Ann Burriss.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Jim Marshall will immediately follow at 12:15 p.m. in Mansfield Memorial Park.
