He was born December 19, 1941, in Foraker, Ohio, one of four children of Russell and Dessie (Pardue) Spath. Ron was raised in Foraker and attended McGuffey School, graduating from the Class of 1960. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years.
On March 17, 1963, Ron married the love of his life, Myrna Hicks. Together they shared 63 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Ron was a man who truly enjoyed life. He loved fishing, bowling, and watching wrestling. Known for his playful spirit, Ron never missed a chance to joke or kid around with others, bringing smiles wherever he went. His family lovingly referred to him as “Turtle”. Ron was a fun-loving person who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He especially enjoyed riding in his son’s Mustang, something that made him smile. Ron also had a deep love for his dogs and all animals.
Ron and his wife Myrna devoted much of their time to helping others, volunteering for ten years at the First Lutheran Food Pantry, where they made a meaningful impact on their community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Stanley Spath, Gerald Spath, and Donald Spath; and his son-in-law, Harry Francis, Jr.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Myrna Spath; his children, Robin (James) Adams, Karen (Tim) Hughett, and Craig (Brenda) Spath; his grandchildren, Kristen Francis (Joshua) Myers, Ben Adams, Mandy (Kraig) Bentley, Tyler (Katie) Hughett, Alisha Spath, and Clay (Lindsey) Spath; and his great-grandchildren, Mitchell Bentley, Grayson Bentley, Aurora Bentley, Leighton Hughett, and Nora Hughett.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wappner Funeral Directors – Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A funeral service with military honors will follow at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Russel Yoak.
