He was a proud veteran serving in the United State Navy from January 18, 1945, to July 8, 1946, during World War II and was honorably discharged. During his lifetime, Willard worked at Westinghouse and held various other jobs, eventually retiring from Swan Rubber.
He enjoyed the little and big things in life. Spending time with his family, retelling stories from his time in the Navy, taking his grandchildren for tractor rides, and mowing the fields. Always tinkering, working on fixing vehicles or machinery through the years was where you could find him. Willard was most definitely a family man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by many.
Willard is survived by his four children, Tammy (Chuck) Marquis of Bucyrus, Mike (Beth) McBride, Ken McBride, and Ron McBride of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Joshua (Debbie) Fellows, Levi Fellows, Amber (John) Montgomery, and Caroline McBride; seven great-grandchildren, Joy and Monica Fellows, Adrianna Mincy, Aiden, Christopher, Elliot and Sammy Montgomery; and a brother, Leonard (Dorothy) McBride of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma (Rider) McBride, whom he married on April 15, 1962, and his parents.
Private family services will be observed. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors.
Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario is honored to serve the family.
