Jessie L. Roy

She was the daughter of the late Clarence Dixon and Ebbie Dixon Jones. Jessie was the wife of the late James E. Rice & Harold Roy. She was preceded in death by her son, James E. Rice, Jr., her sisters, Novella Faulkner and Bernice Dixon and her brother, Edward Dixon.

Left to cherish her memory, she leaves behind 3 sons, Richard L. Rice (Beatrice) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Roger Rice of DeLand, FL. and Harold Roy, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; 5 grandchildren, Richard L. Rice, Jr., Marta Rice, Tonya Whitted (Curtis), Roger Rice, Jr. and Jewel C. Rice and 8 great-grandchildren, all of Poughkeepsie, NY; her sister, Kathleen Morgan of Beacon, NY and her 2 special nieces, Coquita Macklin-Merritt of Fishkill, NY and Lorraine Hall of Islip, NY, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.

Jessie retired after 50 years from the Office of Mental Health in Poughkeepsie, NY as a case manager. Jessie retired to live in Deltona, FL and has lived there for the last 20 years.

Those of us who knew and loved her will remember Jessie’s joy of traveling, bowling, shopping, and her sorority Zeta Phi Beta.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, FL from 10 - 11 am. Funeral Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11 am. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
