John L. Coffman

John Lewis Coffman, 77, of Deltona, Florida passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on August 28, 1945 and even after moving to Florida never lost his love for his home state and city. John aka Smiley graduated from Dunbar High School in 1964 in West Virginia. On February 3, 1996 he married his love Mercy Coffman.

John had a career in the insurance industry and worked most of his career for Gulf Life and American General Insurance. Throughout his life John loved camping and fishing as well as watching old game shows, Western movies and sports. But mostly he loved spending time with his big loving family at family gatherings. It became a annual tradition watching the Macy Day Thanksgiving parade on TV.

He is survived by his loving wife Mercy Coffman, his daughter Kim Hopkins of TN and his son Shawn Coffman of FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Garrett, Megan, Kerri and great grandson Viktor. He also leaves behind his siblings Don (Garnita), Ken and Sue (Tom), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Curtis Coffman, and mother Janet Bowling Coffman, as well as his brother Jerry Wayne Coffman.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday March 8, 2023 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home. 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City Florida 32765, immediate followed by a service at 1:00 pm.

A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Deltona Memorial Gardens, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763.
