John is survived by; his loving wife Shirley Ann, his sons; Richard, Robert and William (Brandie), grandsons; Brandon (Morgan) and Nolan, step-sons; Robert, Brandon K. and Rees, great-granddaughter Willow, step-son Dan Guenther (Cathy), step-daughter Debra Guenther-Shrock, 8 step-grandchildren, 17 step-great grandchildren and 1 step-great-great grandchild, his brother Robert Metz and sisters, Sharon Whitaker and Carol Metz.
John worked hard in construction and raised his family and was married 34 years to his wife Cheryl until her death in 2008. He was President of the Men's Auxilliary of the VFW for 5 years, something he always loved, his Vets. He fought 5 different cancers for 17 years and 2 more this past year. He was a good man who will be missed.
