Josephine Ciccone, aka Josie, JC, Cha-Cha, Ma, Gram, Nonna, Fatma, was adored by many and was a truly unforgettable woman who lit up a room, spreading love and laughter every day of her life. On October 31, 2019 Josephine passed away surrounded by her loving family. She resided part time with her children and grandchildren in Illinois and Florida. JC was hilarious, spunky, liked to dress “jazzy”, and loved singing Italian songs and watching Chicago Fire. Cha-Cha had the ability to make a stranger feel like family, but when it came to her Famiglia, she would do anything and everything for them. She raised her entire family to value respect, love, and to appreciate one another-- through the good times and the hard times.
Everyone came to her for the best advice, entertaining stories, and tastiest food. Our favorite memories with her reside in the kitchen where she kept everyone eating and laughing.
Josephine was born an only child of a single mother who immigrated to America from Cortina, Italy. She had wisdom and street smarts that only someone born in the 30’s and raised on the streets of Brooklyn could have. When she married the love of her life, Carmine Ciccone, they relocated from New York to Chicago, where they raised five beautiful children: Rose Kinney, Genny Paciorek, Joey Ciccone, Nick Ciccone, and Carmine Ciccone. Their spouses Mike Kinney, Joe Paciorek, Robina Ciccone, Anne Ciccone, and Maryann Ciccone all carried a special place in their heart for her. Her loving grandchildren Jayson Purdy, Joe, Mia, Laura, and Nick Paciorek, Marissa and Robert Norwick, Lola Ciccone, Rob and Eric Ciccone cared for her dearly. She was a wonderful Nonna to Isabella, Addison, Mariano, Eli, Joey, Wesley, Ricky, and Charlie. Her great-grandchildren were the apples of her eye and she loved bragging about each and every one of them. She treasured every moment spent with her family and her family treasured every moment spent with her. Josephine truly was the Matriarch of our Familia.
Josephine was the most sensational woman we ever knew and we will continue to carry her presence and strength with us, as we have done every day. She was our rock. We will miss her forever, and love her even more.
Until that time, we meet again… Buona Notte Bella.
