Manuel “Manny” was born on June 22nd 1926 in Santurce, Puerto Rico and was one of 5 children, two of whom survive him, Osvaldo and Edna. As a child, he moved to New York City with his family. In 1944 he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After completing his tour of duty, he returned to New York City and began working at Bustelo Coffee Co. in 1947. In 1949 he met, Virginia Calderon, whom he quickly married in 1950. After the birth of their two daughters, Marlene and Lizandra, the couple settled in Queens, New York. After retiring from Bustelo, Manny and his wife moved to DeBary Florida in 1995.
Manny was a fun-loving family man, adored by all who met him. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards and dominos, doing crossword puzzles and watching baseball games. His favorite movies were classics and westerns. He also frequently read science fiction and adventure novels. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, and swimming in his pool. He will truly be missed.
Manny is survived by his wife, his daughter, Marlene, and his two grandchildren, Alexandra and James.
