Myrtle Speid affectionately knowns as “Doreen”, was born to the late Elizabeth and Gerald Farr and was the youngest of three siblings. Doreen was born in Millbank, Jamaica West Indies. She migrated to the United States. She was the wife of Donald Speid for 47 years. She worked for 22 years at Metropolitan Hospital while taking care of foster children and her own children.
She found pleasure and enjoyment working outdoors, mowing the lawn, and tending to her various plants and flowers. She is an excellent swimmer, loved sewing and the color blue. Doreen was baptized in the Church of God in Jamaica, West Indies and enjoyed singing gospel songs. She will be remembered for her energetic spirit, wisdom, guidance and her love and caring for others. Her favorite saying was “God is Love”.
Doreen is survived by her husband, Donald; siblings, Viola and Herman; her children, Charlston, Heather, Paula, Tanya, and Sadie; grandchildren, Charleston “Junior”, Jason, Robert, James, Joshua, David, Gabriel, Justin, Elijah, and Graisyn; and great grandchildren, Jinayah and Faith.
