Born on April 19, 1925, in Manila, Philippines, Rogelio lived a life defined by service, compassion, and dedication to others. He attended Santo Tomas High School and went on to earn his Medical Doctorate from the University of Santo Tomas, beginning a remarkable career in medicine that would span over five decades.
On October 27, 1990, Rogelio married the love of his life, Linda Joyce Aderman Marcial, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.
Dr. Marcial dedicated 53 years of his life to practicing medicine in Portage County, Ohio, where he became a beloved and trusted physician in the community. Known affectionately as “Doc,” he combined traditional medicine with complementary practices including homeopathy, acupuncture, and medical hypnosis. Throughout his career, he had the profound honor of delivering more than 1,200 babies—bringing new life into the world while also comforting families during life’s most difficult moments.
His commitment to service extended beyond medicine. In 1993, he was elected Portage County Coroner in Ohio, continuing his mission of care and support for the community he so deeply loved.
Rogelio was actively involved in numerous professional and civic organizations, including the Kiwanis Club, the Coroner’s Association, and the NAACP, among others. His passions extended into the arts and community life—he enjoyed playing conga and bongo drums, performing with the Rocco Chirchiglia Band, participating in the West Volusia Chorus, and pursuing photography. He was also a lifelong learner who valued continuing education.
Above all, Rogelio was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his seven biological children: Diane, Debbie, Doreen, Michael, Melanie, Melita, and Matthew; his adopted daughter, Valerie; and his stepchildren, Veronica and Gwendolyn. His legacy continues through his 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Velita.
Though he spent his later years in Florida, his legacy is deeply rooted in Ohio, where he served generations of families with compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication.
Dr. Marcial’s life was one of extraordinary impact—bridging the beginning and end of life with compassion, wisdom, and grace. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, the families he served, and the communities he helped shape.
