Thomas Leroy Hammond. Born in Bald Hill, Illinois, 1927. Brought up by his adoptive parents on a farm after his parents deaths, he joined the US Navy at 17 in 1944. A World War II veteran, serving for 12 years on various ships, mainly in and around the Arctic Circle. He met his wife Sophie whilst his ship was in England. They married and were together for 61 years until her passing in 2011. He is survived by his 3 daughters. Laura Sally Ann, Mona Lisa and Debbie Lynn. Grandchildren David, Rachael, Sarah, Dean and Martin. Great Grandchildren Alyssa, Elise, Aidan, Corey and Naomi. He was also a loving grandfather to Laura (deceased).
