David Bruce Masters, age 76, walked into Heaven on Friday, February 4, 2022. He was born on February 18, 1945 in Newark, Ohio to Virgil J. Masters and Miriam E. Masters. David moved from Ohio to Jacksonville, Florida at a young age and began his life long love of baseball and hardwork. He was being scouted by several major league baseball teams when an automobile accident on February 17, 1962 rendered him a tri-plegic and with cognitive losses. His parents left no stone un¬turned to give their son the best care possible. It was because of their love that he was able to read again and even work at the Palatka ARC group home he lived in for many years. David came to live at River Garden Hebrew Home in February of 2012 where he thrived under the love and care of their remarkable staff. Always with a smile on his face and in his blue eyes, David showed us all how to love and enjoy the life that we are given.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Miriam Masters. He is survived by his guardian and caregiver, Jim and Suzanne Lyda; numerous cousins and many friends.
