James Norwood Stewart, 72, passed away on July 20, 2017. He was born on February 3, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a long time resident of Green Cove Springs, Florida, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a client at Challenge Enterprises since 1972, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Civitan Club. He enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, Bowling, Golf, and Cycling. His hobbies included ceramics, taking pictures, painting bird houses, and attending social gatherings. He was the life of the party, always smiling and offering a hand shake wherever he went. He loved everyone he came into contact with and was loved by everyone he met. He is predeceased by his mother, Irene Fowler of Green Cove Springs in 1985. Survivors include 2 sisters, Lorraine (Barney) Altman, of Dixon, MO and Dorene Hardage of Jacksonville, FL, 3 nephews, Jay (Tina) Altman of Dixon, MO, Steven (Lisa Strehl) Altman of St. Louis, MO, and CharLee (Tammy) Lanier of Panama City, FL, 1 niece, Amy E. Crowder of Jacksonville, FL, 4 great nephews, 3 great nieces, Aunt Elaine (Walt- deceased) Olkowski of Rosendale, NY and multiple cousins. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Mike Pendergrat, officiating. The family will receive friends at a luncheon in the church hall immediately following the service.
