My condolences to Lillie and all the Damroth family. 

I don't know that Joe was completely aware of how many people he profoundly touched in his daily interactions by just being himself. Sincere, compassionate, optimistic…
Though we worked on opposite coasts, our paths crossed briefly during a work assignment. In that time he helped me navigate some personal hardships and gave me hope when felt there was little to be found.  
It's my wish that we can all carry on his legacy of making a positive impact on the lives of others, simply by showing the world the best of ourselves every day.
May you all find as much comfort and gratitude in your memories  of him!

Joe was a great friend whom I've known for 16 years. Joe use to make me laugh when he would answer the phone introducing himself to customers as Ross Bocris. His humor was infectious. He had a heart of gold. May you rest in peace my friend.

I am deeply saddened  by all of this because Joe left us to soon. 

Joe was my stock trading buddy and trust me we chatted a lot about stocks. 

I’m going to miss my good friend because no one ever made me feel more welcome then Joe who not only shared his amazing family and friends with me when he knew I didn’t have any other friends in town but also personally made me . 

To feel part of the family. To me he was bigger than life because he loved living and we all love Joe.  

When I would teach in Florida I love bringing Joe into the classroom because he had a sweet way of talking to students making them feel welcome. 

Joe’s passing is a major loss to a lot of people  especially me.   I truly wanted to be there to support Lillie and all of my friends in Florida but unfortunately I could not be there. 

 Joe will live on in all of the friends, the memories of the good times, the laughs, the meals, the jokes, and just the great camaraderie that we all shared among each other. 

  I send my sincere condolences to Lillie whom I love, to Joe’s family and all of Joe’s friends. I will Personally miss Joe and I will never forget the impact that he has had on my life.

I met Lillie and Joe while working at Bell Atlantic now Verizon. I remember Joe’s smile and sense of humor. Heartfelt condolences and prayers sent to Lillie and her family as well as Joe’s family. Treasure those memories as he is resting in heaven. Lord, please  give Lillie his life partner the strength and courage during this time. Absent from the body present with the Lord! He is still with us just in a different way! 🙏🏾

I met Joe probably 14 yrs ago as a young manager at AT&T.  I thought he was downright crazy (in a good way)!  Always cracking jokes & trying to keep things light which was tough on the 13th floor. Joe was a great role model to his employees & to this once very green manager trying so hard to prove herself within the company. I met a lot of people during my 16 yrs at BellSouth/AT&T but no one was like Joe. He made his own rules without breaking any.  I hope he knows what an impact he made on everyone he met! 
My thoughts are with his family & close friends, he will be so very missed.

I first met Joe when he came to the 13th floor of the Bay St tower way back when, we worked together for several years, then he left for DSL and before long his constant praising of the new DSL world helped sway my decision to leave Sales and follow him to a new adventure. ...a move I never regretted and one I often thanked him for helping me make. Once I got here, Joe was so supportive in making it a smooth transition, full of laughter too!
 So many happy, silly and crazy memories over the past 15 plus years.  Like any job, there were some tough days that we had to get thru, conflicting opinions to deal with, and various other kinds of work drudgery, but those are all dimmed by the many occasions of laughs and smiles that fill my heart and mind!   Joe's goal was to always bring laughter and a sense of fun to the floor....and he delivered!  
My thoughts and prayers go out to those he openly loved...Lillie, all the kids, grandkids, and family, as well as all the friends and coworkers who's lives were touched by Joe's infectious smile and laughter!
Joe, I know the stock market is chiming in your favor today!  

Joseph William Damroth was a multifaceted – intelligent, funny, capable and family-oriented man that lived with a true zest for life. If you had the good fortune to know Joe and to call him friend, then you also knew he wanted people to enjoy life as much as he did.
He was highly accomplished in his career, which must have been a result of his ability to absorb tons information and to never meet a stranger. If you were in his circle of friends, he knew no limits to making sure you knew you were supported and part of the team. Joe would give you the shirt off his back to help you be better off.
I don’t have to say that Joe has left us way too soon. I look around and It is evident in our faces, which reflect our heart-felt sorrow to have lost him. Knowing how Joe lived for the adventure of traveling to beautiful and exotic places around the world, I hold on to the idea that this recent trip to Alaska was another such journey that, while it breaks our hearts, it was a trip that took a surprising detour that delivered him into the hands of God.
Joe now must live in our memories and hearts. It is clear that we will never be prepared for the day when we or our loved ones depart from us and this world. For this reason, I hope we are encouraged to reflect on what Joe means to us individually and to start living today to make a conscious effort to celebrate all of our relationships in real time with real love. While we know sorrow will come our way, we will have no regrets because we loved with commitment just as Joe did. May he R.I.P.

I first met Joe back in 2013 as my AM, he was extremely cool, he also was fun to have as an AM.  He would always come around and ask how we were doing, always wanted to make sure we felt comfortable coming out of training. I had just seen Joe a few weeks ago and even visiting he came by and said as he always do " hey there how you doing? You good?" I pondered over even coming on here to share my thoughts, because what would I say to take away everyone who care about Joe's pain away? There are no words! However; Lillie I truly am saddened by the loss of your love. He was a fun charismatic person; to know Joe is to enjoy Joe, from all the wonderful remarks you can see the impact Joe had on everyone he came in contact with. I pray for you and I pray you're strengthened by the comfort from our Father each day. I really wish there were  words to take away the hurt you feel, but I know that love you two share for one another will somehow get you through. Just know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Psalm 30:5 Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

I am here for you Ms. Lillie, to listen, to make you smile, to let you cry, to hug, to love on, for what ever, I am here. 

Joe, you will be missed. It truly was a pleasure meeting and working with you. Sending you love to the Heavens above.


I remember a few years ago when Joe came to Denver to tour the DTV Call Center.  I had never met him before and we got to talking about  how he was collecting state license plates for his friends back yard fence.  I was able to get some Colorado plates for him,  and I sent them to him so he could add to the collection. Little did I know that I would become the admin for his team and that I would get to know him better over the last 3 years.  He had a quick sense of humor and was such a nice guy.  His laughter and spirit will be missed.  

Evelyn and I express our sincerest sympathy and condolence on the passing of Joe. May Our Lord grant him a place of peace, happiness and joy in His heavenly kingdom.

Joe, what can I say? I miss your happy smile, your jokes, your love for Lillie, your advice, everything about you! We had such good times together - all our trips together, sharing time, and working together. I can close my eyes and see the day you asked for my help in finding Rebecca’s office for your interview! I knew then we would be great friends. You will be greatly missed by all. You touched so many lives and was such a great man. Your love for Lillie was shown in so many ways, especially when you sang to her.  You eyes lit up with endearing love! Ron and I will always be here for Lillie as we know she will be lost without you.  Thank you for being the best friend ever! 

I’ve been thinking long and hard on how to verbalize our loss of Joe and find it impossible. Joe was Joe, never will be another like him!  Joe’s laughed easily, brightening the room when he entered with his energy and humor. Joe could talk to anyone, engaging all he met leaving a lasting impression on them; he quickly became family and was well known and liked by all of our family. His absence leaves a hole in our lives which can’t be filled! I’m so very thankful for the many wonderful memories of our time spent together and since I retired, I thought I would be able to spend more time with Joe going forward but that was not the Lord’s plan. The world was a better place because of Joe and it loss some of its sparkle when he left!

Joe, I love you and will always love you. You leave behind a lot of people who will dearly miss you. I appreciated your mentorship and patience with me and just know, that I would not be who I am today if I had not had you in my life. You were truly like a father to me. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Joe's passing. We had good times working together at 1500 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck ,NJ and playing pool many times. He came to my house a few times where we would sit on the deck have few beers and enjoy ourselves. Thanks for being a good friend Joe. My condolences to the family.

I'm going to miss my dad a great deal he was a great man to have as a father growing up I thought he was a hard father but it wasnt till my older years that i realized he loved me and cared for me on a level i couldn't understand as a kid but now being a father myself i understand it fully and i appreciate the love he had for me. We weren't talking unfortunately his last few months a decion I will never grow to be ok with I love my father so very much I know he knew that but it doesn't make it any less harder. I will miss him very dearly and there won't be a day that goes by I dont think of him or have him in my heart. I love you dad and i know your a happy man in your resting place. Joe was the first manager I met at OPFL.  I was assigned the cubicle beside his and from the moment I moved in, I knew that we would get along great!  I can still hear the dinging of his bell to announce the opening of stocks (ding, ding, ding) , if a stock went up (ding, ding, ding) or the encouraging the stocks to go up and not down.  Joe had me print out the lyrics of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus and post it on the dividing wall between us so anyone who was walking around our team areas  could read and sing along with it, the song was played every morning (along with singing with it, we had to stand up, raise our arms and sway to the music!) 

Along with Joe’s sense of humor, the one thing I will most remember the most about him is his love for Lil and the rest of the family.  He loved each of you dearly and always shared stories about each of you.  

My heartfelt condolences go to Lil and family members. I pray for peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.

And Joe, thanks for being such a tremendous friend to all of us.  You were an awesome person and our lives were blessed by having you in it!

While we had not seen each other in several years, I hold fond memories of the time we worked together at AT&T.  For nearly 2 years he served as my manager. But I also considered him a friend. I will always remember when he came to my daughter’s first birthday party. It meant a lot to our family to have his support. Joe genuinely cared about his employees and it showed. He will be missed. ❤️

As I reflected on the time I spent working with Joe, one thing stood out...never underestimate the impact that one person can have on a team/organization. While Joe couldn't change the nature of the job or the job requirements, he had the ability to make it enjoyable. On a Monday morning when it's tough to get out of bed, knowing that Joe and ALL his craziness would be there, really helped my feet to hit the ground.  There is only one Joe and he will be greatly missed.

I am so sad to hear the news about Joe. Wishing all of you patience and strength to reach peace.

I was an outside tech in the early 90's and had the "luck" of getting injured and ending up in the office in at 1500 Teaneck rd. Teaneck N.J. where I met Joe.  I still smile every time I think of the times we had together! Always a non-stop laugh fest whenever we were together! RIP Joe....

My condolences to Joe's friends and family, he will be missed.  I had the pleasure of working for Joe a couple years.  We had the chance to work together in a few different countries too. He cared about people and he cared about the customer.  It was always on display.   As a boss he always helped push you to get the behaviors in place to drive the results we wanted.  I always appreciated his ability to be serious when necessary and crack a joke when the opportunity presented itself.   There was one time when we were at an airport making our way back thru customs after a business trip;  the masses were tired, drifting,  lines were long, we kept wrapping around and around, it wasn't really clear if we were making any progress or not.   He said to me "Can you imagine if this isn't really the line to customs and everyone was just following the one guy who was trying to get the 10000 steps in while listening to their IPOD or if we are all following the one person circling in search of their favorite hot dog stand wondering where it moved".  I erupted in laughter for a couple minutes and finally got out "That'd be a good Seinfeld episode"    For the next 20 minutes we couldn't stop laughing as we wrapped and weaved our way slowly, not knowing if we'd end up finally discovering the avid walker, the hot dog stand, or the customs official.    That was Joe.   I don't have a photo of the moment of course, no cameras allowed in the customs area, yet I'll always remember the line and our laughs.   Rest in Peace Joe!

Joe  was a great manager and a great person.  Always had a smile, music playing in the office...loud and gregarious! I will always have memories of his happy face and times he encouraged me thru some difficult days at Att.  I was sad when he moved to his new position and we didn't see him everyday, but when he came in to our office he always seemed to make up for it by greeting everyone and having kind words and funny jokes. I will really miss his enthusiasm for life.
Miss Lillie, my heart is broken for you and there isn't much we can say to alleviate your loss but just know...we all are here for you and we love you.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to Lil and the Damroth family.  My time working for Joe was frustrating at times, but also the most rewarding.  There was nothing off the table for Joe, with him leading we could accomplish so much.  He always knew we could do better and be better than we were.  He was a fierce supporter of his team (me) and fought for us through all the competition we face in our industry and company.  I had many good conversations with Joe and I loved our time working together on our site visits.  I don't believe I've laughed as hard as I have working with anyone else.  It breaks my heart to hear this news today…

Many years ago, I had the pleasure of working with Joe in downtown Jacksonville on Bay Street . I must say he was always the bright spot; someone you just enjoyed being around. He had a way of being able to make you smile even on what felt like your worst day. I will truly miss his quick wit, funny stories and great accent. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as I know he will truly be missed.

Joe was not only a manager of mine at one time but someone I looked at as a friend. I can still hear him saying, " Heeeyyyy, What's Goin On"?  There was never a boring moment with Joe around.  I will never forgot the day he had us outside dancing The Cha Cha Slide. His humor and his willingness to do whatever it took to make everyone smile or laugh will be missed beyond words. 
My heart is broken for Lillie and all of Joe's family.  My prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

Joe Damroth was my second manager at AT&T working on a special team.  There was NEVER a dull day or moment when Joe was around.  He commanded the room and he was highly respected here.  He taught me a lot that has allowed me to absorb a lot about this company.


A Few weeks ago, Joe walked up to my desk and I got a very warm hug and kiss on my cheek. He told me about his accident with the bus and that he was going to retire. We talked a few minutes and he left, I didn't know this was going to be the last time, I would see him.
I am sad about his passing, he was always fun to work with, a real people's person, warm and caring but also always with funny stories, witty and always helping where he could. He was a huge support to me when my husband passed away, I will miss his smile.

I will always fondly remember Joe's wonderful sense of humor, his friendship and generosity.  Joe had strong work attributes, but most of all he had a big heart.

I smile as I recall that when I worked for Joe and sometimes had a bad month, he would "carry" me through the rough times. My nickname for him was Giuseppe, we shared that New York mindset at times. Going forward, I know that I, and so many others, will carry Joe in our hearts.

Joe was a great guy to work with at AT&T.     First in DSL, then in UVerse.  Joe had a wealth of telecom knowledge and was always easy to get a hold of / highly responsive- a great quality in a teammate.  I’ll miss seeing and chatting with Joe at the strategy sessions and will be praying for family and friends.

Sanford; 2 children: Robert Sanford and Latoya (Javon) Craig; was Uncle Grandpa Joe to Darius and Donovan Craig; and extended family and friends.
