Ms. Linda D. Caldwell, 78, of Orange Park, Florida, departed this life February 23rd after a courageous and determined fight against stage four (4) pancreatic cancer. She was born on November 15, 1941 in Williston, South Carolina to Roy and Anne Dixon. After graduating from high school in Columbia, South Carolina, Linda attended Florida State University and earned her degree. Shortly after college she married LCDR Leland C. Caldwell (USN Ret.) in 1964. Prior to her retirement after a long and successful career in real estate in Clay County, Linda was named the Clay County Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year in 1995. Linda was an avid tennis and bridge player for several years, and in her later years proudly served as a volunteer with the Clay County Federation of Republican Women. She will always be remembered for her strong will, patience and generous heart. She will also be remembered for her love for her dog Mia. She is survived by her two sons: Michael (Renee) and Kevin, brother Jerry Dixon, and her two grandchildren: Aidan and Brendan. Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Dixon (2000), and husband, LCDR Leland C. Caldwell (USN Ret.)(1981). The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful caregivers of the Northeast Florida Dialysis Center, Heartland Rehabilitation Center, UF Oncology/Yan Makeyev, MD and Haven Hospice of Clay County. A gathering of family and friends will be held on March 7, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Hardage Giddens Rivermead Chapel, 127 Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park.
