He was a longtime resident of the Chatham, New York area, where he was a carpenter for many years before moving to Lake Worth, Florida, where he managed an apartment complex for more than 20 years until his retirement.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran who later served as commander of American Legion posts in Chatham and Lake Worth.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ida “Belle” Sprague, a son and daughter from his first wife Beverly, Rick Rath and Renee Knight; two sisters, June Strobel and Delores Gebhard and two brothers, Franklin “Mickey” Holt and Jackie Holt.
Survivors include a sister, Janet Herrle and brother, Russell Holt, two sons, Ronald (Kathleen) and Walter (Jean), a daughter, Deidre Trevizo (Francisco), another daughter from his second wife Helen, Trish Smith (Heather); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date in Lake Worth.
