In Loving Memory of Helen D. Rorison
With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Helen D. Rorison. Helen was born on August 4, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, and went home to be with her Savior on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 90, after a brief hospitalization. She was surrounded by her family and lifted in prayer and love by many.
A remarkable and feisty woman, Helen embraced life with joy, strength, and an unwavering faith. A lifelong Presbyterian, she served as a Deacon and Elder and found great joy in singing in the church choir. Her home was always open—a place of welcome for a visit, a stay, a respite, a stopover, or a season. Her infectious and unmistakable laugh will echo in our hearts forever.
Helen found peace and beauty in God’s creation. She loved gardening, birdwatching, and spending time outdoors, and she held a special place in her heart for Hayward, Wisconsin—where she spent much of her childhood and where she returned often for cherished family vacations.
Helen was married to Samuel Rorison, with whom she built a life filled with love, faith, and family. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved Samuel and many dear family members and friends who have gone before her. We take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, surrounded by those she loved.
She leaves behind a family who adored her: her children, Valerie, Brian (Theresa) Rorison, and Bridget Puumala; her treasured grandchildren, Kelly and Rachel Rorison and Grace Puumala; her loving brother, Emil DelMastro; and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Her surviving family finds peace in the promise of being reunited with her in God’s perfect time.
Helen will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Morgan Park United Methodist Church for the Welcome Ministry or to South Suburban Crisis Center in her memory.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit, laughter, and love remain forever in our hearts.
