Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Millie Mladar, her beloved husband, Thomas Jeffrey and her cherished son, Tom Jeffrey.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Karen Jeffrey (John Sterling) and Sue Jeffrey Busen (Don Nowaczyk), her adoring grandchildren: Tom (Dayna), Will (Becca) and Dan Busen, and a forthcoming great-granddaughter. She is the sister of the late Rudy (Sue) Scott, and sister-in-law of Bill (Joyce) Jeffrey and the late Earl (Sandy) Jeffrey. She is the aunt of Mark (Patty), Jackie (Mark), Steven (Lotus), Jeff (Ping), David, the late Rob, and the late Kimberly. She is survived by many dear cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Lucille lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end and touched the lives of many people along the way. She will be remembered as a kind and classy woman who loved to laugh and always had a good attitude. She had a huge heart and adored her family. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved to travel, spend time with family, and had an exquisite zest for life. Some of her notable adventures included four African safaris, a trip to Croatia to visit family, and traveling Europe with her companion Hank.
She was a life-long athlete, 1998 state tennis champion, and pioneer in the local pickleball movement. She enjoyed golfing, and playing cards, Mahjong, and most recently, table tennis. She was always willing to welcome others and teach them a sport or game.
She will fondly be remembered for always being willing and eager to help anyone with anything, no questions asked. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She lived a beautiful life and will remain forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
The family invites you to attend a celebration of life on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 3-8pm at the Orland Funeral Home, 9900 W. 143rd Street, Orland Park, Illinois. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. Alexander Parish, 7025 W. 126th Street, Palos Heights, IL. Burial will be private.
