To my Padrino, I can’t help but to recall the family road trips we would take to the beach when I was a kid. The Santiago brothers and sisters bound by an endless love for each other and the need to gather the whole family for an event that seemed like it was planned since the prior summer event. For some reason these were some of the most memorable times I had as a child. I can’t even fathom the amount of planning it would take to gather the whole family together during a time when cell phones did not exist. There was no texting or social media messaging. And we all know the number of Tios, Titis, Primos and Primas, etc, etc, etc. that made up this family…. Yet, the bond that existed between the Santiago clan was undeniably pure. It ensured that each summer there will be a summer beach event much grander than the previous. And then there were the domino games. The culmination of a day in the sun yet all the cousins knew the party was just about to begin…. And at any moment one of the brothers would be screaming “CAPICU”!!! The joy of hearing that word still brings a certain level of excitement that can never be erased from my mind. Now time has passed, evolution moving forward… Nevertheless, I’m sure you’re sitting down with my Pops in heaven sharing these memories or perhaps a challenging game of dominoes. Thank you Padrino for never letting the memories pass away.

My dear Mr.Santiago. I will  never forget your respect and kindness. I loved cooking your Farina for breakfast. You said that no one could do it like I did. I thought it was funny when you saw me  cleaning the house and you said:”Sonita, chill out, sit down for a while “.  And how much you loved going to Mass on Sundays. I will always have wonderful memories of you and Joe together and how happy he made you when he was there. But I’m sure that you are very happy with our Jesus.

Thank you Tio for filling my childhood with laughter and for always being one that I can talk to. You never took anything too serious which allowed me to open up to you. I spent summers with you and your German Shepards and Volkswagen buggies. You were the reason I built a love for animals and cars. You were always a constant presence in my life. The memories we created will never fade. Though sickness and career moves didn’t allow me to see you as often in your last years, you will ALWAYS be such a special piece of my childhood and heart. Thank you for the person you always were. Love you so much.

Tio Amalio was always the one to make us laugh. He was a piece of Pipa on earth for us when he passed away. My kids loved going over Tio’s house playing in the pool and learning how to play dominoes. I love the image of the brothers in heaven together again laughing and hugging like they always did. In full health with no suffering. Te amo Tio! Gracias por todos los hermosos recuerdos y por hacerme reír tanto siempre.

The Santiago Family were my 2nd Family growing up. Mr. Santiago felt like my Papi since my Papi passed away when I was 9 years old.
I slept over every weekend since we lived close and spent lots of time.
Mr. Amailio always so sweet and allowed me and his family's Relationship.  He always provided a warm safe environment for his family and us to have fun.
I thank him for that.  He also came to visit in my Florida home with Vernice and Joseph and his awesome beautiful wife who shared in his Generosity. 
May he Rest in Peace with the Lord. He will be watching over his Wonderful family as he did in this Life. Sending Love to his family
