Cynthia Anne Boyles-Sandman, a wonderful person, generous with her time, knowledge, and love, was born November 29, 1941 in Fall River, Massachusetts and passed on October 19, 2018 in Orlando, Florida at the age of 76.
Preceded in death by her husband Lee Sandman, parents Leo and Flora Boyles, and her younger brother Chris. She is survived by five brothers; Clyde (Joyce), Thomas (Suzi), Jerry (Barb), John (Brenda) and David (Nancy), along with many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Amelia High School, near Cincinnati, she left a few years later for New York City to begin and exciting experience working aboard cruise ships. There she met her future husband, Lee, who served as an officer in the US Navy and later in the Merchant Marines. Shifting careers, she received her BS degree from Hunter College in New York City while working at the same time in hospital administration. It was at Hunter College she met Fran Tomes which led to a friendship lasting over 50 years.
Cindy left New York to assume the role as a loving and dedicated caregiver for her parents. A role she would also assume for her husband Lee, and two of her aunts, Gladys and Alma. She was passionate about genealogy and spent a great deal of time carefully researching and documenting family history. She was always at family reunions with her camera, organizing the group photos, rolling her eyes at all our clowning around and supermodel poses, patiently weaving new threads into the tapestry of our family history.
Ever since hosting her grade school class to watch the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953, she has closely followed the development of the Royal Family and often had high tea with family and friends.
She loved Elvis Presley much to the chagrin of most of her brothers who favored Pat Boone. Maybe she was forward thinking recognizing the new trend in music and the boys were just stuck in the old conservative music.
Cindy was a passionate defender of her brothers, a good friend to her sisters-in-law, and caring aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was inquisitive and curious by nature and always had lots of questions to ask. She was also a vivid storyteller, and her stories will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on April 8, 2019 at 11:00 am
