OBITUARY

Lt. Dan McCarthy Ret.

6 November, 1951 – 26 September, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Baldwin-Fairchild Conway Funeral Home

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of retired firefighter Lieutenant Daniel McCarthy of Orange County Fire Rescue Department Station 86. Dan passed in his home with his wife, Martha, and son, Matthew, by his side after many years of battling Alzheimer’s. As we mourn, we know that Dan ultimately won the battle as he is now celebrating with Jesus.

Dan was born in Queens, New York to Joe and Edna McCarthy on November 6, 1951. He started his career as a firefighter serving as a volunteer in New York. In the late 70s, he moved to Florida and became a Professional Firefighter. He retired after 30 years of service to those in Orange County, FL. Though firefighting was Dan’s main profession, he also was a teacher and small business owner. He taught EMT Recertification classes and First Responder classes at places like OUC and Lucent Technologies as well as serving as an Instructor at the Florida Safety Council. As the owner of a computer business, Dan also served as many people’s computer guy known as “Firedan”.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Martha; his three children Joe, Danielle, and Matthew; his siblings Chris, Tim, Trudy, Terry, and Mary; his grandsons Isaiah and Elijah; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna, father, Joe, and sister, Nancy.

There are no services planned at this time.
