Danny graduated from the College of Staten Island with a Bachelor of Science in Business (Finance). He served twenty-one years in the United States Air Force, initially serving as a Law Enforcement Specialist and later as an Aero-medical Evacuation Technician. His service to the military included numerous overseas deployments, including three years in the Philippines and in Kuwait at the outset of the Iraq War - Operation Iraqi Freedom following 9/11. During this time, he was directly responsible for providing comfort and life-saving medical assistance to both combat and non-combat troops, as well as civilians being transported from overseas back to the States.
After his military service, Danny worked for six years as a Deputy Sheriff in New York City. He was also a licensed NJ Life and Health Insurance Agent and held Series 7 and Series 63 licenses as an NASD registered representative, allowing him to work as stockbroker for Grayson Financial, LLC, and Valley Forge Securities at One World Trade Center in New York City. Additionally, he was a member of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. He earned a diploma from Eastern Florida State College in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Technology.
Danny is survived by his beloved daughter, Bethany Janelle Díaz, and beloved son, Nathan Emmanuel Díaz—his greatest loves. He is also survived by his second mom, Mercedes Díaz; siblings Francis Díaz (Dianeris), Tilde Díaz-Laniewski (David), Krismelys Díaz, Misael Díaz, Franklin Peña, and Reison Fanith; numerous cherished nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins; as well as dear and close friends.
Danny’s life was marked by several phases and seasons, but the one constant throughout was his commitment to serving others. Dan was loving to all and always signed off with the phrase, “humble servant of God.” True to his words, he was always ready to help anyone in need, especially his family. He deeply cherished his family. An intelligent man, Danny was skilled and resourceful in many areas, as reflected by his academic and vocational achievements. He had a love for nature, enjoyed camping, and was a good handyman, always eager to fix things. Dan was a man’s man. He also had a lively spirit, bringing joy to those around him through jokes, dancing and overall silly fun.
During 9/11, Danny’s heart of service was most evident when he ran toward the South Tower of the World Trade Center to find his wife and unborn son. Amidst the chaos, he heroically ensured the safety of his wife, their unborn child, Nathan, and several other pedestrians, guiding them to safety. He even went so far as to personally escort a distraught woman directly to her home before reporting to duty at Ground Zero.
Danny’s favorite scriptures were Psalm 91 and Psalm 23. He often gifted Bibles to family members and friends, demonstrating his deep care for their spiritual well-being. Another constant in Danny’s life was his unwavering prayers for his family and his heartfelt desire for all his loved ones to restore their relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
