David H. Nolle, aged 71, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 15, 2025. Born on March 27, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the cherished son of Gladys Nolle (Potter) and Herman Nolle.
David graduated from Carrick High School in 1972 and began his career at H.J. Heinz Co. at the age of 18, following in his father's footsteps. Throughout his long tenure with Heinz, he held various positions, starting as a sanitation employee in the 70’s and eventually rising to a leadership role in the boiler plant in the 2000’s.
On October 25, 1975, Dave married Barbara Nolle (Lotis), and together they enjoyed 41 years of marriage in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. They were blessed with their only child, Jessica Rebholz (Nolle).
Dave was a dedicated employee, often spending many of his waking hours at work. In addition to his career, he pursued various ventures, including selling bagged cell phones for Cellular One in the mid-80s. During the 80’s and early 90’s, Dave was actively involved in organizing the annual day after Thanksgiving Spina Bifida Bowl-A-Thon. You would find him and Jessica canvassing neighborhoods for donations and preparing hundreds of balloons with his family. He also volunteered as Santa Claus for the Spina Bifida Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania, creating magical moments for children and families throughout Pittsburgh.
Dave cherished camping trips with his family, creating lasting memories despite occasional mishaps. He earned multiple associate degrees from Community College of Allegheny County in the mid-90s and became involved in various organizations, including the National Association of Power Engineers (NAPE), where he served as Chapter 18 President in the late 90s early 2000’s. He also supported his daughter's passion for dance and majorettes, contributing countless hours to the Baldwin Marching Band Boosters.
The new millennium brought challenges for Dave, as he lost both his parents in 2000, which profoundly affected him. Later in his career, the H.J. Heinz factory transitioned to Delmonte and Bay Valley Foods, where Dave continued working in the boiler plant for DQE Energy Services until his retirement.
In 2004, Dave became a grandfather to his grandson, Jaysen Rebholz, and later to his granddaughter, Riley Rose Rebholz, in 2007. After separating from Barbara in 2004 and eventually divorcing in 2016, Dave embraced an independent lifestyle. He enjoyed escaping the cold winters by traveling to Florida and staying in touch with his high school friends on a very frequent basis.
Dave will be remembered as a resourceful and over-the-top individual who always had “the right tool for the job” and was known for his unique approach to his retirement. His life ended abruptly on April 15, 2025, due to a tragic accident in Celebration, Florida. While his family mourns his loss, they find solace in knowing he is at peace.
He leaves behind his former wife, Barbara Nolle (Lotis), his daughter, Jessica Rebholz (Matthew Rebholz), his grandchildren, Jaysen and Riley Rebholz, his sister, Gladys Mae, his nephew, Steve Arbasack, and many caring and loyal friends.
A memorial service for Dave will be held in Pittsburgh. Details on the date and location will be provided soon.
