Hildegard June Miller was born to Alexander and Hildegard Rothberg on June 8, 1944, in New York City. She grew up in the Bronx and went to Wagner College on Staten Island, where she met her husband Karl. After marriage, they moved to southern New Jersey, where they lived most of their lives and raised a family.
Hillie was fortunate to travel extensively throughout the United States, taking particular pleasure in our National Parks. She was a great nature and wildlife lover, and took special interest in our nation’s wolves. She also admired and supported Native Americans, whose views on the natural world closely aligned with her own.
She was a great lover of music, from big bands to the Beatles, and she enjoyed singing in her church choir. She was also a lover of movies, especially old films and musicals, which she could enjoy again and again as if seeing them for the first time.
She was a lifelong Disney fan, from the Mouseketeers and animated classics to the theme parks and resorts. She took many vacations to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and spent the last few years of her life in Orlando, where she enjoyed many, many days on the Disney property.
Hillie was adored by everyone who knew her. She was sweet and kind, full of glee and quick to smile, supportive and loving. Her care was genuine and obvious. It was a joy to be with her, and she will be dearly missed.
