

Jarrett Burns Smith, 87, of Orlando, Florida, departed this life on Sunday, August 15, 2021. The son of Lasker and Hilda Smith, he was born in Flint, Michigan on February 10, 1934. Jarrett and his sister, Ardath, were raised on a farm in Millington, Michigan. He and his family moved to Kankakee, Illinois when he was a teenager. Jarrett later served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. After his service in the military, he moved to Tavares, Florida, and he met and married his wife, Mary Moore. They settled in Orlando, Florida, and raised 3 children, Marla, Eric, and Ryan. He worked as a diesel mechanic for 60 years. He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. His roles included music minister, board member, bus driver, and Sunday School teacher. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 57 years, 3 children - Marla, Eric, Ryan, a daughter-in-law Jalayne, 2 grandchildren - Katherine and Wesley, and his sister Ardath Lalonde.
A visitation for Jarrett will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the United Church of the Nazarene, 1320 S. Chickasaw Trail, Orlando, FL 32825 followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:30 PM. He will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr., Winter Park, FL
