Lewis Daniel Welsh was born on the beautiful island of St. Christopher (St. Kitts) to parents Vannie Baron and Patrick Welsh on September 25th, 1964. He had 5 siblings, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. One sister and a brother passed away along with his mother and father. He also has a son Lewis Jr. and daughter Lewverna Welsh from his previous marriage to Verna Welsh. Lewis reunited with his high school sweetheart Rhonda Benjamin Welsh and got married in 2013 then relocated to the city of Lakeland, Florida in the United States.
Lewis grew up in McKnight and Soho Village and later moved to Sandy Point. He attended the Irish Town Primary School, Basseterre Junior High School and the Basseterre Senior high school. He was in the McKnight Boys Scout Troop under the leadership of Keithly Williams. He was a member of the Gold House Track & Field Team at the Basseterre Senior High School. He was also a good Worrie player.
After graduating high school in 1982 Lewis attended the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and obtained his Engineering Degree from City and Guilds of London Institute in 1984 then later graduated from the Royal St. Christopher & Nevis Police Academy. He worked as an Engineer for a short period then joined the St. Christopher & Nevis Royal Police Force around 1988 in which he served for 25 years. He Completed and Passed his Sergeant Promotional Exam and was awarded his Certificate on September 16th, 2005. He served as an Engineer on the St. Christopher & Nevis Regional Coast Guard. He also supervised while working in the Crime Scene Department.
Lewis loved Law Enforcement. As a Police Officer and Engineer he was confident and determined to serve the people of his country and to enhance in his career. When in situations he used the experience gained to ensure that his plans were executed and mission accomplished while giving support and encouragement to his peers. He believed integrity was everything and so he treated everyone with equality, kindness and compassion just the way he wanted to be treated.
Some of his Credentials and Achievements include Certification in: Regional Security System, Marine Emergency Fire Fighting, NCIS Crime Scene Investigations, Finger Prints, Crime Scene Photography, Forensic Certification in Criminal Intelligence from Republic of Austria, Machine Tool Operations from the Canadian Coast Guard College, Navy Seal Training and Sharp Shooter Certification from the United States of America Army, Diesel Engineering Damage Weapon Control from the Bureau of Investigation from the City of Yorktown, Virginia in the United States of America and his Supervisory Management Certification from the University of the West Indies.
On September 1st, 2020 Retired police officer Lewis Daniel Welsh passed away after battling with various health ailments for the past 2 years. He gave his life to the Lord so we know where he is today. We thank god for his mercy & grace so let us remember the joyous times spent with Lewis because he lived every moment to the fullest with the
people he loved. He had great accomplishments, he was loyal, empathetic, quiet yet serious, good father, honest, and loyal to his family & peers. He was selfless and always willing to help others when needed. He will forever live on in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
