

De Leon Jr., Pedro Diaz, 94, passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2015 in Orlando, Fl. He was born on January 11th, 1921 in Kingsville, Texas. Pedro proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, as an aircraft mechanic and flight chief while stationed in the Pacific Theatre. During his time in the service, he earned many commendations including but not limited to; the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Pedro retired from the USAF as a SMSgt after 32 years of dedicated service to his country. He also retired from the Florida Department of Transportation, where he worked as a toll collector and from the Sheraton Hotels Corp., where he worked as a security guard. He enjoyed hunting, wood working, lawn maintenance and exercising. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Orlando. Pedro is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma and his three loving children; Daniel De Leon and wife Melinda, daughter Gloria Shorette and husband James, and daughter Linda McVey and fiancé Joseph Burdzy. He is survived by 5 grandchildren; Phillip and David Shorette, Derek and Jon De Leon, and Angela Stone. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren; Celeste and Zachary Winkler, Andrew Adamski, Sophia and Glorilynn Shorette. Brothers; Victor, Arturo and Rudy De Leon, and sister Barbara Garcia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro d. De Leon Sr. and Gabriella Sanchez, brothers; Daniel and Kalito De Leon, Anthony Sanchez and grandson Peder De Leon. Memorial Services will be held on, July 24th from 10:30-11:30 am, at Family Funeral Care, 13001 S. John Young Parkway, Orlando, Fl. Visitation will be 1 hour prior.
