She was the apple of her father's eye and grew up in a modest, loving household, in the happy, simple times of the 50's. Her father was a dentist and her mother a stay-at-home mom.
As a child Sally spent a lot of time playing with the neighborhood kids outdoors, riding bikes, swimming, sledding, and practicing her piano lessons. She was active in Campfire Girls and a very good student, being elected to the National Honor Society in high school.
Sally graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1961 and then attended the University of Kansas. In 1962 she married Richard (Rick) Taylor and a year later moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, along with her newborn daughter, Danette. She graduated from Florida Atlantic University and taught grade school for 40 years.
Her marriage to Rick ended in 1975, and she married Ivan Dummett in 1977. They lived in Hong Kong and then Sydney, Australia, from 1979-1989 before returning to Florida. Ivan died in 2011 after which Sally continued to live in Boynton Beach until more recently moving to Orlando to be closer to her daughter, Danette.
Sally had a very upbeat, non-judgmental personality. She always had a smile and kind, encouraging words. She was very loved by her parents, brothers, daughter and son-in-law, granddaughters, and many friends.
Sally died peacefully following a sudden stroke. She will be terribly missed but never forgotten as the wonderful friend she was. God bless and watch over her.
