Sherry Jones

Sherry Jean Dicks Jones, 69, passed away May 14, 2016 in Orlando, FL. Born March 27, 1947, in Lake City, FL, she is predeceased by her parents, Tribble John Dicks and Vera Evelyn Colson Dicks, sister, Tribly Ann Dicks Johnson, and brother-in-law, Gary Johnson. She is survived by her niece Donna L. (Larry) Lewis of Jupiter, FL and nephew Greg M. (Mary) Johnson of Tallahassee, Florida, great-niece Ashley Johnson and great-nephews Matthew Johnson and Dylan Lewis, uncle Wendell (Mary) Colson of Orlando, uncles Lenvil Dicks and Rodney Dicks of Lake City, FL, and other beloved cousins. She worked for Travelers Insurance in Orlando for several decades before retiring to take care of her health and enjoy life. Having contracted polio in the 1950's, she was confined to a wheelchair but never let that stop her. She had a grateful heart, an adventurous spirit and savored life. She was fiercely independent and strong and showed constant faith in the Lord and strength in the face of adversity. She was a devoted Christian and member of Calvary Assembly of God in Orlando. She treasured her family and friends, her cat who adopted her, her God and her cookbooks. She loved history and museums and took numerous field trips to area attractions, museums, and even to the beach. She loved to cook and collected cookbooks and cookware. She was an avid reader and belonged to a local book club as well as Hooks & Needles knitting club, knitting hats for premature babies. She was a beloved family member, respected friend, powerful mentor, and remarkable woman and will be missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life Memorial will take place June 4, 2016 at 11:30 am at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home at 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd, Orlando, Fl. 32804. The family will receive guests at 11 am with service starting at 11:30 am and light lunch following.
