Bill quietly passed away at home on 4-14-2014. He was 66 years old. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Richard & Margaret Burkhardt, a brother Gary & a son John. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen, sons Erik of Orlando, William Jr & his wife Kimberly of Iselin NJ, a daughter Barbara Punderson & her husband James of Kissimmee. He is also survived by a brother Kevin of Westfield NJ, sisters Gail Mercado of Waretown NJ & Joan Fafinski of S. Plainfield NJ, & 4 grandchildren.
William was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He worked 25 years & retired at the rank of Captain on the Newark, NJ Fire Department.
A viewing will be held at Family Funeral Care located at 13001 S. John Young Parkway Orlando FL. On 4-21 from 4-8:30pm and a mass will be held at Holy Cross located at 12600 Marsfield Ave Orlando, FL on 4-22 at 10:00am. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the ASPCA of Orlando FL.
