The family of Yoshi Yamamoto, with deep love and sorrow, regrets to inform the tragic news that Yoshi has recently passed on to be with our heavenly Father on the afternoon of May 18, 2021 with his family by his side at the Dr. Phillips hospital after his fierce, but brief battle against stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Dr. Yamamoto was a career professor of mathematics at Eastern Florida State College, formerly known as Brevard Community College. Last week, Yoshi was surrounded by colleagues and friends as he celebrated his retirement after 27 years of service.
Yoshi was a devoted music critic and lover who wrote for the Japanese music magazine, Beatleg, for many years. He loved concerts and baseball games. He appreciated food of every kind. He loved the local area and especially enjoyed visiting the theme parks with his family. His enthusiasm for life was unrivaled.
He is survived by his wife Mariya and two children. His energy and zest for life will be remembered by all those who knew him. He accepted and proclaimed Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
There will be an open viewing and an ongoing open service this upcoming Sunday (May 23, 2021) from 4-6pm for friends and family. It will be held at Family Funeral Care 13001, S. John Young Parkway in Orlando, Florida.
Light refreshments will be served in a room next door. Visitors are encouraged to share their times and to take as much time as they please together to remember the life and person who was Yoshi Yamamoto.
A larger and more formal memorial service is tentatively scheduled for next year so that our family and friends abroad who cannot attend at this time due to COVID restrictions will be able to have another opportunity. Future posts will be updated on Yoshi’s timeline via FaceBook.
Thank you all so much for your support and understanding during these difficult and unprecedented times.
