Arthur McCarthy

Arthur was born to the late Arthur and Sabina McCarthy, January 29, 1947 in the Bronx, NY. Arthur graduated from Power Memorial High School and received a BS in Business Administration from Iona College in 1968. He married Clare McCarthy in 1969 and they lived in Glastonbury, CT before retiring to Orleans.

Arthur (Odie) was an Accounting Manager for the Nestle Corporation before branching out on his own.

A lifelong Yankee fan (and former usher at Yankee stadium) he wore his Yankee cap all over town..not to start arguments but to start conversations. Odie became the “Mayor of Willie Atwood Road” and took his duties very seriously. If a neighbor was away, you knew Odie was on patrol! His proudest accomplishment was convincing the town to ticket the cars who parked on our narrow street every summer.

Arthur is survived by his wife Clare, their children Jennifer and Lauren. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kaitlyn, Reilly, and Maggie, along with a soon to arrive great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod.

A celebration of Odie’s life will be held later this summer.
