Barbara was born on October 15, 1933 in Ashland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Donald Bruder and Freda (Tinkey) Bruder and the wife of the late Reverend Malcolm Cox Bertram Jr.
Barbara graduated from West Springfield High School and later graduated from Bay Path Junior College. She married Malcolm C. Bertram Jr. in 1955. Their life and ministry in the United Church of Christ took them to Ohio, Michigan, Kansas, New York and concluded in West Newton, MA before retiring to South Wellfleet, MA.
Barbara enjoyed a 17-year career in the Syosset, NY School District. She eventually worked as the Secretary to the Superintendent and to the School Board before retiring in 1990. Barbara served on numerous church committees and boards to include the Board of Deacons, Pastor Parish and the Pastor Search Committee. She absolutely loved her time with the Bell Choir at the Federated Church in Orleans, MA. For 17 years, Barbara enjoyed traveling to watch numerous national and world ice skating competitions. She also loved her vacations in Bermuda.
Barbara is survived by her three children: Malcolm S. Bertram of South Wellfleet MA; Lee and his wife Margaret of Marblehead, MA; Lori Ann and her husband George of Hull, MA. She is also survived by four grandsons and two great grandchildren.
