

ORLEANS – Elizabeth “Betty” Perks, 86, of Orleans, passed away on February 22, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie C. Perks. Betty was born in Worcester, MA; she was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna (Glavin) Butler.
Betty graduated from St. Peters High School in Worcester. She worked in sales at Denholm department store, where she met her future husband. They married in 1955, moved to Ashland, MA and spent 20 happy years together until his death in 1975. They also enjoyed time at their beach house in Wells Beach, Maine. In 1993, Betty moved to Orleans, MA. Betty loved spending time at Skaket Beach, watching the Cape Cod baseball games, especially when her grandchildren came to visit. Betty truly enjoyed being a part of the “Tuesday Girls” while volunteering at the St. Joan of Arc thrift store, where she was also a parishioner.
She is survived by her two sons; Geoffrey and his wife Susan Perks, Michael and his wife Dianne Perks; her five grandchildren, Meghan, Meredith, and Geoff, Matthew and his fiancé Lisa Gorecki, and Denise. Betty is also survived by her nephews Dick Kallio, Norfolk MA and Jon Kallio, Shawano, Wisconsin
Visiting hours will be held from 2p-5p on Wed. Feb. 26 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Thursday, Feb 27th at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Orleans, MA. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Ashland, MA.
