Following his military service with the Sea Bees in the Navy during WWII, he graduated from New Bedford Institute of Textiles and Technology, and worked as a chemist at US Army Research, Development, & Engineering Center in Natick, MA. He enjoyed traveling, sailing, computers, and spending time with his family and friends.
Fran is survived by his children: son Peter Hoffman of Medway, MA, daughters Barbara Mercorelli of Weymouth, MA and Nancy Smith of Chandler, AZ and grandson Michael Hoffman of Franklin, MA.
