Beloved husband to the late Doris I. Alexander, son of the late Harvey L. Alexander and Mildred (Chase) Alexander and brother of the late Joan A. Dodds. A graduate of Newton High School, Harvey earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston University, where he majored in business. Harvey served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy Reserve in 1959.
Upon graduation Harvey began his career in Real Estate. Harvey, armed with a strong handshake, sold residential real estate in Waban, Newton, Needham and Dover. Harvey served as a member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and Needham Historical Society. In 1975 Harvey and Doris opened their residential real estate office in Needham and in 1978 became one of the first Century 21 offices in New England. Harvey’s greatest success was not measured by the awards, but the friendships made along the way. Harvey was a steward to the community and to the countless families he assisted to establish roots in the suburbs of Boston.
Retirement on Cape Cod provided Harvey time to enjoy his love of gardening. Harvey’s roots in nature have been planted and will continue to bring joy to all who pass his home.
Harvey is survived by his children, Scott G. Alexander and his wife, Lisa, Kathy O’Sullivan, Kristin A. Kantner and her husband, Joseph, Robert M. Byrne and his wife, Kathleen and the late Richard J. Byrne. Nephew Wayne Dodds and niece Linda Murdock. Harvey was the proud grandfather to Jeffrey, James, Spencer, Matthew, Andrew and Erin.
