Helen A. Brusco, a resident of Eastham, Massachusetts for 12 years, died on November 18, 2025, at home. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday. She was born on November 10, 1925, in Westfield, Massachusetts, daughter of Gottlieb and Katherine Kandel Kiendzior. She was a graduate of Westfield High School. In 1946, she married Richard J. Brusco and they shared 64 years of marriage until his death. Helen cherished her Polish heritage and passed on many traditions to her family.
Helen was a dedicated servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westfield, of which she was a faithful member for over 30 years. In subsequent years, her husband Richard’s career moved the family from Westfield to Summerville, Georgia; Westport, Connecticut; Greenville, South Carolina; and Allendale, New Jersey. With each move, the couple always found and joined a church in which to serve. Through her faith, prayers, and example, Helen led many to the Lord. She was a mentor for them in their Christian walk and her legacy lives on in their service to Christ. She taught us to recognize the Holy Spirit in everyone and everything. Helen embodied the Scripture: “The joy of the Lord is my strength”.
Helen was devoted to her husband, her family, and dear friends. Her kindness, generosity, and philanthropy greatly benefitted her family as well as many who will never know her name.
Helen is survived by her daughter Dr. Elizabeth E. Brusco and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by husband Richard and son David J. Brusco. Committal to the Brusco family plot at Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield, will take place at a later date. Nickerson Funeral Home of Orleans, Massachusetts, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Helen’s memory to Lutheran World Relief, https://give.lwr.org
