Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1930, she was the oldest child of J. Lawrence and Flora Moffitt. Growing up in Wethersfield, Connecticut, she lived in Dallas, Texas for many years where she worked as a legal secretary before returning to New England to care for her aging parents. She was a devoted mother, and her greatest joy was helping raise her granddaughter, Jessica. She read avidly and took special pleasure in staying abreast with current events, about which she held passionate views. She also took delight in correspondence with family and friends.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Cindy Abasolo of Sandwich, Massachusetts, her granddaughter and grand son-in-law Jessica and Kyle Galloway of Huntsville, Alabama, great-grandchildren Jasmine, Matthew and Brayden, as well as sister Carol Kline of Easton, CT, brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Claire Moffitt of Marblehead, Massachusetts, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Cynthia.
Burial will take place in the Orleans Cemetery at 2pm on Thursday, October 1st. Per the family's request, please wear bright colors, as Janet would really love that. Family and friends are invited to join in a memorial service via zoom same day beginning at noon.. Please email niece Loree Farrar at [email protected] for information about how to log in. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to WCAI, her favorite radio station, or Oxfam America.
